Colon Cleanse

I am having a colonoscopy tomorrow. Oh, what that used to do to me. Colonoscopy prep involves a day of fasting and a night of consuming mass quantities of laxatives – equal opportunities for all eating disorders! The anorexic can fast, the bulimic can shit her brains out and the next day, the compulsive eater can binge, because she earned it!

And the promise of weight loss from laxative induced diarrhea. Oh boy, I seriously looked forward to the prep!!!! Gross.

Today’s it’s just an inconvenience. I have a lot of things I’d rather be doing tonight than sitting home pooping. And I’m off from work tomorrow, which means Monday will be a bear of a work day.

Different world.

  1. Best of luck!! I haven't had a colonoscopy, only sigmoidoscopy. You do a prep, but did you know they don't sedate you at all or give you ANYTHING? So unfair. It's pretty uncomfy, that's for sure. But hey, I got to see what my colon looks like, so that's something. I want to thank you for listening to my crazy rambling comments. I feel like I was drugged/drunk when writing them (I was not!)... due to a complicated pain issue, I was pretty out of it. But everyhing's going to get cleared up, so it's good. :)

    1. Erin: i did get on to your blog. I am sorry you are in pain. That sucks. On a practical level, can you keep yourself away food as your meds kick in? years ago, i took Ambien, and I would have to close the bedroom door, put myself in bed, then take the meds. And I made a pact with myself that I wasn't getting up, no matter what. Otherwise, I'd eat everything in the refrigerator and start ordering delivery, seriously.

I have had a sigmoidoscopy, and it was with a doctor who was training medical students, so I had a room full of people staring at my put while i was wide awake. it was horrifying!!!

I will answer your recovery question tomorrow after I've thought about it.

Your comments aren't rambling or crazy at all. Thank you so much for writing. Melissa

    2. I should just make a rule that I CANNOT get out of bed once getting in (unless it's for non-food reasons). That or tie myself to the bed!
