SMELL

has anyone else noticed that when something smell goods, intuitive eating hightails it out the window?

i could sit happily home, not hungry, not even thinking about food, but if D. brings home a pizza, the aroma gets me drooling. next thing you know i'm heading toward the box. if i decide not to eat right then, after all i'm just not hungry, i end up with pizza on the brain.

you?

  1. yes, and i think that pizza has an especially intoxicating aroma. Should be illegal.

  2. I don't have that with pizza at all, but occasionally with certain cookies.

The olfactory system is powerful. It's one reason why various aromas can be meaningful to us in terms of ingestion, happiness, and memories.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, the worst smell for me is movie theater popcorn which makes me run away from it. I cannot stand that smell.

  3. I love the smell of pizza. And bread, and cookies, even pie. If I'm not hungry, I'm unlikely to eat much more than a bite, and if full, I won't even eat that. Unless I've been drinking, then all bets are off.
