Sexy

I’ve gained 7 pounds and I feel….sexy? is that possible? Could I actually feel more attractive with seven MORE pounds?

Yes, I was really comfortable seven pounds ago –lean & healthy– I could slither into my favorite jeans even after they’d been tossing in the dryer for way too long. I thought I looked great.

But here I am, 7 pounds heavier and feeling fine. And just a little hot.

If you’re anything like me, you rarely feel sexy. Somehow, weight-watching took away my zesty gene. There wasn’t much room (no room) for hips, thighs or boobs.

Now, look at me. I’m looking kind of round. My bra’s a bit too tight. There’s a little belly pooching out against my pants (I didn’t wear jeans – they’re not that comfortable today!)

So, I’m bopping around work. Look at me! Don’t I look like a real woman?! Woo hoo.

This is wild AND wildly wonderful. I feel grrrrreat.

And I’m not restricting or thinking of restricting. In fact, I’m letting myself be. That feels grrrreat too.

I have been weighing myself (obviously, as I know I’ve gained 7 pounds), but what if I stop? Does it really matter what I weigh? Uhm, there’s an interesting question…

The fact is, the chances are, I’m not going to gain the zillion pounds I’ve always feared. I eat healthfully and moderately with little treats.

Wow, I almost sound like a normal person. Uhm, did I say that?

  2. You do sound like a normal person! That's great!

Read Maya Angelou's poem, "Phenomenal Woman" This is the first verse:
" Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size
But when I start to tell them,
    They think I'm telling lies.
    I say,
It's in the reach of my arms
    The span of my hips,
    The stride of my step,
    The curl of my lips.
    I'm a woman
    Phenomenally.
    Phenomenal woman,
    That's me."

That's you! I'm starting to feel that way too since I've reached my goal weight. "

  3. FANTASTIC. Flaunt it. :) My boyfriend has actually told me that he thought I was more attractive before I shed a few pounds, it's funny how what women think men want is actually much different from what women tend to think they should want, if that makes sense. Not that everything is for men, of course! Really glad that you're doing so well and are enjoying your beautiful figure, you deserve to be proud of it!

Angela; thank you. i'd forgotten about that wonderful poem. great to re-read it! it's really true. so glad you are feeling better. you're amazing

cammy; my boyfriend also tells me that i look better with some more pounds. i find it so hard to believe. what strangely wired brains we have. i am enjoying myself over here. so new.

Tiptoe; it's so strange for me to feel sexy. the word, alone, kind of embarrasses me. but it's there. i do feel sexy. beautiful? that will take some time!

  7. i've just packed on 15+ and am kind of getting used to it. it happened really fast in hospital and i still have a few more to go before i'm discharged but i'm maintaining right now, not ready to push it anymore right now but i know i have to sooner than later. i had to buy a whole new wardrobe basically. all new pants and some new shirts. girls are normally thrilled by this but when i'm buying clothes 2 inches bigger than i was 6 weeks ago....it's hard. really hard. but i'm proud of you for letting yourself feel sexy! :) so great.

  9. It's so nice to see that you're doing so well! I'm very, very happy for you. Cammy is right--men definitely prefer curves and they don't find that super-skinny look attractive at all (I've done my share of research). But we all know it's more important to look good for ourselves--not just to impress men--though it's wonderful to know they're pleased with how we look. With all that sexiness, maybe a trip to Vegas is in your future?
