Jennifer Lawrence on Bodies

Actress Jennifer Lawrence says that we have become so used to overly skinny frames that perfectly healthy women are being made to feel overweight.

“I would like us to make a new normal body type,” Lawrence said. “Everybody says: ‘We love that there is somebody with a normal body!’ And I’m like: ‘I don’t feel like I have a normal body.’ I do Pilates every day. I eat, but I work out a lot more than a normal person."

Amen, Jennifer Lawrence.

  1. I applaud her for speaking up against the bullshit going on, for sure. But I'm kind of tired of her trying to identify as a "bigger person" because she is not. If you compared her to an average woman, she's pretty thin! I get that she's speaking out against the Hollywood "norm" but for us that are struggling with being heavier, it's kind of insulting in a way.

  2. Hi E: I actually read it a little differently. I thought she was saying she is a very thin person and it's wrong that she is called normal or even curvy. I will have to read again.

  3. It's not specific to this article. It's her general statements all over the place about how she's "bigger" and likes to eat, etc. Just rubs me the wrong way I guess.
